About us
Apartments Hájenka Oravice are ideal for families with bigger and smaller children, for smaller or bigger groups of people, but also for demanding clients who like to meet and are lovers of diverse nature, enchanting views and trips, cycling or hiking, great skiing, thermal pools, aquaparks or mushroom picking.
The name Hájenka originated as a diminutive of the noun háj. It was a place that was forested and was also in past times a suitable place to live. Probably at the turn of 19. In the 18th and 20th centuries a sawmill was built here and a mining barn was built for the local miner and for forest workers who carried out work related to the extraction of wood and its transportation. That’s why we decided to name our apartments the same, so that this place carries a piece of history.
We look forward to your visit and believe that our apartments will truly make your dreams come true.
Get to know Oravice
The first written mention of Oravice dates back to 1371, when describing the borders of Trstená. Oravica is also mentioned in 1558 as “the Oravica stream, flowing alongside the settlement Čimhová”. Oravica, originally a forested region, was colonized by the Trstenč people as early as the end of 16th century. Already in 1608, the Hungarian palatine Juraj Turzo agreed with the hereditary richtár Martin of Trsten on the clearing of a larger area near the Oravica river. Earlier In the 17th century an independent settlement called Bystrá was established here, which was based on Wallachian law.
This settlement disappeared around 1659. Probably in 1659 the settlement Bystrá disappeared and its land was given to the inhabitants of Tvrdošín, and thus the folk name Bystrá slowly disappeared. Since 1728 the serfs from Tvrdošín, after an agreement with the landlord’s lordship in Oravský Podzámek, acquired the estates, popularly known as Oravica, which they rented for a certain sum of money. At present, the locality of Oravice, which is popular with tourists, is territorially subject to the district town of Tvrdošín.
